Why 4.2: Ferrari's track-focused answer to the 488 GTB's turbo-lag complaints: 90kg lighter, 49 more horsepower, a chassis tuned from the 488 Challenge and GTE programs. It attracts a harder-core buyer than the GTB — someone who cross-shopped a 911 GT3 as seriously as a Bentley — which shows up in genuinely higher track-day usage.

The long version

Where the base 488 GTB fell into a speculative flip cycle as the naturally-aspirated-458 crowd waited out the turbo generation, the Pista self-selected for buyers who wanted the hardest version regardless of induction method — Ferrari special series have historically drawn a more committed owner than the volume model they're based on, and the Pista continues that pattern. Racing-derived bodywork and a stripped, harness-optional interior discourage the daily-driver use case that keeps a GTB's mileage low, pushing Pista owners toward track days and organized drives instead. Values held up better than the GTB's did through the same period, evidence that special-series Ferraris trade on a different, less speculative buyer psychology. It's still a Ferrari bought partly for the badge — but the badge here says 'I wanted the track car,' not 'I wanted a Ferrari.'
