Why 3.5: The GT 63's body over a 2.0-litre four. A styling purchase, and the data shows it: the lowest track-appearance rate in the AMG lineup.

Sound

The M139 is a fine two-litre and the electrified turbocharger keeps it responsive low down, so it is never coarse. But four cylinders under a GT bonnet sound thin however they are tuned, and Mercedes fills the gap through the speakers rather than the exhaust.

Rear seatsStandard

Two complete ISOFIX/LATCH connector sets on the outboard rear seats, standard whenever the optional 2+2 rear bench is fitted.

Front passenger seatNot available

The front passenger seat gets a top-tether anchor point only — no lower ISOFIX/LATCH connectors, so a forward-facing seat can be belted and tethered there but not rigidly latched in.

Most buyers spec the rear seat option for the extra load space it opens up when folded, not for carrying passengers.

The long version

Order sheets on this one skew toward buyers who wanted the GT silhouette in the driveway and did not cross-shop the spec plate too closely, a four-cylinder under a body designed to advertise a V8. The value curve backs that up: it has shed almost a quarter of sticker in two model years, the kind of drop that happens when a resale market realizes the badge was doing most of the selling. Miles pile on at a normal commuter rate, so it is not parked, just unremarkable once you are actually driving it instead of admiring it in the mirror of another car.
