Sound

The 3.0 twin-turbo flat-six from the GTS, with the raised body letting more mechanical noise up through the floor and gravel drumming under it. Capped by the turbochargers, which flatten the top end well before 7,500 rpm.

Rear seatsNot available

There aren't any — strict two-seater.

Front passenger seatVaries

The only position there is, so makers of this era equip it: expect a passenger-airbag cut-off (key switch or occupant sensing) as standard, because there is no rear row to point children to. Whether the seat itself carries ISOFIX anchors is maker-specific — Porsche bundles them with its child-seat preparation, Ferrari sold them as an option, others are belt-mount only with the airbag off.

Derived from production years and seating layout, not a per-car source. ISOFIX was standardised as ISO 13216 in 1997, required on new EU model types from 2011 and on all new EU cars from 2014.

The long version

Porsche has been threatening to do this since the 953 won the Paris–Dakar in 1984, and the surprising part is how completely it committed: the suspension travel is real, the tyres are real all-terrains rather than a decal exercise, and the Rallye and Offroad modes change the car's behaviour rather than its dashboard graphics. That has produced an ownership pattern unlike any other limited-run 911. A meaningful share of Dakars genuinely go off pavement — gravel events, desert runs, the kind of use that would horrify a GT3 owner — because dirt is the point rather than damage. It still sold out instantly and still traded above sticker for the first year, so the flip column is not clean, but the cars that get used get used properly, and prices have settled back toward list rather than running away.
