Porsche 911 Carrera GTS (992.1)
Why 7.3: The Turbo's larger variable-geometry turbochargers on the Carrera's 3.0, 473 hp, PASM Sport lowered by 10 mm, the Turbo's brakes, and a seven-speed manual still on the order form. Porsche packaged the options an enthusiast ticks and charged less than the sum.

Sound
The GTS runs the Turbo's larger VTG turbochargers and the sports exhaust as standard, so there is more boost rush and overrun crackle than in any other Carrera. But it is a flat-six heard through two turbos and, in Europe, a particulate filter, which flattens it past 5,000 rpm. Level with the Carrera T, for different reasons.

Child seats · ISOFIX
Two ISOFIX positions on the outer rear seats — jump seats, so the question is whether the seat physically fits behind a front occupant, not whether the anchors are there.
The rear anchors are the supported route — the manual points child seats there, and front-passenger ISOFIX is the exception rather than the rule. A belt-mounted seat up front needs the airbag off, and cars with a rear row don't always fit a deactivation switch, precisely because the rear seats exist.
Derived from production years and seating layout, not a per-car source. ISOFIX was standardised as ISO 13216 in 1997, required on new EU model types from 2011 and on all new EU cars from 2014.
The long version
The GTS has been the quiet enthusiast's pick since the 997 introduced the badge, and the 992.1 version made the case more clearly than any before it: Turbo turbochargers, Turbo brakes, a lowered sports chassis and a manual gearbox, for about $137,000 against a Turbo S at over $200,000. It arrived during the 2022 allocation drought, which is why its ownership picture is split. The first cars were sold with dealer markups and a share of them went straight back to market with delivery mileage. The ones that stayed are driven properly — the GTS is a daily car in most of its markets, and the manual take rate was the highest in the 992 range outside the GT department. The 992.2 replaced it in 2024 with a 3.6 T-Hybrid and no manual at all, which recast this car overnight as the last pure-combustion GTS. That has stopped the depreciation, but not yet turned it into a collectable: it is still bought to be used.
