Why 6.8: The LT4's supercharged torque makes for savage in-gear pace, but the Z06's own heat-soak limits on track became almost as famous as the lap times, a genuine engineering compromise rather than marketing spin. DougScore's daily-driving numbers land surprisingly high for a car this focused.

The long version

Chevrolet built the C7 Z06 to out-drag a 911 Turbo on a straight and mostly succeeded, but the supercharged LT4's cooling system couldn't always keep up with what the engine was capable of, and owners who tracked hard learned to watch for the heat-related power cuts road testers wrote about at launch. That reputation kept some buyers cautious even as the outright numbers stayed exceptional, part of why depreciation ran deeper here than on the naturally aspirated Corvettes before it. Values have started firming again now that the C7 reads as the last front-engine Corvette before the C8 went mid-engine, and clean manual cars are climbing fastest.
