6.5 / 10
Involvement 7.0 / 10

Why 6.5: DougScore 68, genuine off-road capability and enough absurdity to be more than a commute appliance. They get used because trucks get used.

Sound

The Hellcat supercharger whine is the signature, and the bonnet scoop feeds induction noise straight past the windscreen while the active exhaust barks. But 6,200 rpm ends it early and a great slab of pickup soaks up the rest. Switched-on theatre rather than an engine that sings.

Rear seatsStandard

Crew-cab-only truck, so the rear bench is full-size: LATCH lower anchors at both outboard positions plus top tethers, same as any Ram 1500 crew cab.

Front passenger seatNot available

No LATCH hardware up front.

TRX was never offered in anything but Crew Cab — no small-cab rear seat to worry about.

FMVSS 225 (US federal LATCH mandate, lower anchors + top tether required from Sept 2002) (owner-community sourced, not manufacturer documentation)

The long version

The TRX works because it is not trying to be subtle. It is a factory Baja fantasy with a Hellcat engine, warranty and enough cabin comfort to make the absurdity daily-drivable. Owners tow, commute, launch-control and occasionally find dirt, which is more varied use than many supercars get. It is not delicate involvement, but it is real involvement: noise, mass, suspension travel and bad decisions made easier by a factory VIN.
