Why 5.1: DougScore 68 because it is a brilliant daily object. Enthusiast pull is softer: enormous, expensive and more about Alpina taste than driver hunger.

Sound

Alpina's own exhaust gives the 4.4 twin-turbo V8 a low, well-mannered burble that suits the car exactly. But restraint is the entire brief — no crackle, no overrun theatre, and a great deal of luxury saloon absorbing what is left. Deliberately one of the quietest V8s here.

Rear seatsStandard

Second-row ISOFIX standard on the outer positions, matching the donor X7's family-SUV specification; this 5-seat configuration likely reflects a 2nd-row-only count rather than the 7-seat bench option.

Front passenger seatNot available

Alpina-tuned X7 (G07) — no front-passenger ISOFIX, same as the donor platform.

Donor BMW X7 (G07) ISOFIX pattern — luxury 3-row SUV segment norm, EU ISOFIX mandate; no Alpina-specific document located (owner-community sourced, not manufacturer documentation)

The long version

The XB7 is a seven-seat Alpina, which sounds like a contradiction until you remember Alpina has always cared more about fast refinement than track theatre. The result is deeply competent and deeply heavy. Buyers do use them, because an SUV this usable naturally accumulates miles, but the pleasure is torque, cabin and rarity. It is the Alpina shelf's blunt instrument: not the purist wagon, but the clearest sign that even boutique tuners had to follow customers uphill.
