7.0 / 10
Involvement 7.5 / 10

Why 7.0: No DougScore, but huge enthusiast pull: forbidden-ish wagon body, Alpina calibration, everyday miles and less track cosplay than an M3.

Sound

Alpina's exhaust gives the S58 a creamy six-cylinder rumble, more mature than the harder tone BMW's own M cars use. But discretion is the point: the valves barely open, the filters do the rest, and 7,000 rpm passes without event. Tasteful and quiet by design.

Rear seatsStandard

Two outer rear ISOFIX positions on the donor G21 Touring's bench, middle belt-only — the estate body doesn't change the seat hardware from the G20 saloon.

Front passenger seatNot available

Alpina-tuned G21 3-Series Touring — no front-passenger ISOFIX, same as the donor platform.

Donor BMW 3-Series Touring (G21) ISOFIX pattern — mainstream family-estate segment norm, EU ISOFIX mandate; no Alpina-specific document located (owner-community sourced, not manufacturer documentation)

The long version

The B3 Touring is the Alpina sweet spot: enough performance to humble old supercars, enough compliance to cross countries, and enough wagon utility to make the purchase feel almost rational. It is not a track car, and that is the point. Owners buy them because the car solves a real life while still feeling like a secret handshake. That earns a high score even without Doug coverage: it spreads the axis better than another limited supercar would.
