AMG built this to embarrass Porsche at the Ring, and the buyers who cross-shopped it against a GT3 back then still take it to track days now, running the nine-way traction control through its full range instead of leaving it in Comfort. The rest arrived later, once being the final analog-feeling AMG halo became a marketing hook worth paying for, and that crowd treats the car more like a hedge than a hobby. Running costs on a hand-built biturbo V8 do some natural filtering either way — nobody keeps one they don't intend to actually start.
