Ruf's 3.7-litre twin-turbo flat-six is a Porsche-descended engine and it whistles and chatters like one to 7,100 rpm, with very little bulkhead in the way. But this is a 911 Turbo noise inside a $3.4 million body, and W Motors spent the budget on the headlight diamonds rather than the exhaust. Below the Ruf CTR it descends from.

There aren't any — strict two-seater.
The only position there is, so makers of this era equip it: expect a passenger-airbag cut-off (key switch or occupant sensing) as standard, because there is no rear row to point children to. Whether the seat itself carries ISOFIX anchors is maker-specific — Porsche bundles them with its child-seat preparation, Ferrari sold them as an option, others are belt-mount only with the airbag off.

Underneath the theatre there is a competent machine: Ruf built the 3.7-litre twin-turbo flat-six, the layout is rear mid-engine and rear-drive, and 780 hp in 1,380 kg is a serious set of numbers for a first attempt by a Beirut startup. Almost nobody has ever experienced any of it. Seven production cars exist. One went to the Abu Dhabi Police as a publicity vehicle and has spent its life parked in front of cameras. The rest went into Middle Eastern collections and museum displays, and the model's entire cultural footprint comes from a film sequence shot with purpose-built fibreglass shells on modified chassis — the drivable replica later assembled from one of those shells on Porsche Boxster underpinnings sold at auction for $175,000, roughly five per cent of what a real one cost. That gap between fame and use is the point. This is the second-lowest Index score on the site, below every Bugatti, because the Lykan was conceived as an image first and a car second, and its owners have treated it exactly that way. The headlight diamonds were an option. The mileage was not.
