The long version
Every surviving AE86 lived through a drift era that treated it as disposable, and the ones that made it through are now worth more than the car ever cost new — flipping the original ownership logic on its head. Initial D turned a cheap Corolla coupe into a cultural artifact, and that cultural weight is exactly what's parking survivors in garages instead of at touge meets. The rare owner still willing to drift one is preserving the point of the car at the expense of its resale value, and the market increasingly doesn't reward that choice.
