Why 2.3: The Plaid's thesis executed with better engineering and the same ownership reality: a luxury commuter with a party trick. Doug gave the Air 73; the axis measures a different thing entirely.

The long version

The 1,234 horsepower mostly gets deployed in stoplight demonstrations and drag-strip videos meant for other people, because the rest of the ownership experience is a quiet, comfortable sedan that happens to out-accelerate cars costing three times as much. Buyers skew toward early Lucid adopters who wanted the number more than a reason to use it regularly, and the resale market has not developed the confidence yet to reward patience — early Sapphires have already given back real value. It is a luxury commuter with a launch-control party trick pulled out roughly as often as party tricks generally are.
