The long version

There is an active vintage-racing subculture that still campaigns these in period-correct trim, and that community is arguably the only thing keeping the model's reputation as a driver's car alive at all, because the road-car population has mostly gone quiet. Values have more than tripled since 2010, and a car that expensive does not get left outside a bar anymore; insurance policies and trailer queues have replaced casual ownership. Flip Bait and Homologation Hero both point the same direction: bought now for what it represents in touring-car history, priced accordingly, and driven only by the minority still willing to risk the paint.
