BMW has run this play before — restrict the last manual version of a hot M-car to a short run and watch a chunk of the allocation land in a container instead of a garage. The base G80 M3 gets driven properly, which is a decent sign for the CS since it's the same buyer base with the same rear-drive instincts, just more money and less patience for markups. But 'last stick-shift M3' is exactly the headline that pulls in buyers who've never driven a manual and don't plan to start, and the pre-delivery markups suggest that crowd showed up early this time.
