The long version

Nobody is holding an Mk8 GTI for the moment it becomes collectible, because it's bought by people who need one car to do everything — grocery runs, road trips, the occasional back road — and it depreciates like the appliance it's also asked to be. The touchscreen climate controls are the one real concession to modernity owners actually complain about, which says something about how little else has changed in the formula since the Mk1. It's the control group for this whole site: no speculation, no vaulting, just a hatchback doing what it was bought to do, every day.
