Toyota built just enough of these to make scarcity part of the pitch, and that scarcity split the buyer pool in two: rally-inspired owners who actually use the all-wheel-drive system the way it was homologated for, and a smaller group treating a hatchback like a limited-edition watch, delivery mileage and all. Forbidden Fruit reflects how long US buyers watched this exist everywhere else before Toyota finally sold it here, which primed exactly the kind of demand that produces zero-mile listings. Values have climbed steadily since launch instead of settling into normal hot-hatch depreciation, proof the collector contingent is winning ground.
