6.8 / 10

Why 6.8: An Atom with suspension travel and a sense of humor — bought to be jumped, not parked. The lightweight section's only member that scores on gravel time instead of track time.

Sound

There is no bodywork and no silencing worth the name, so the K24's intake and exhaust both arrive unfiltered from a foot away. But it is a Honda four specified for torque rather than revs, so volume does the work. Loud rather than musical.

Rear seatsNot available

There aren't any — strict two-seater.

Front passenger seatNot available

No anchors, and on most of these no passenger airbag either — the car is too stripped for the question to arise. Whatever goes in that seat goes in on a harness or a belt.

Derived from production years and seating layout, not a per-car source. ISOFIX was standardised as ISO 13216 in 1997, required on new EU model types from 2011 and on all new EU cars from 2014.

The long version

Owning a Nomad requires accepting there is no wet-weather answer and not much of a highway answer either, which filters the buyer pool down to people who already know that and bought it anyway — often the same crowd that outgrew an Atom and wanted the off-road excuse to keep buying tires. It shows up at green-laning meets and desert trailheads more than at concours lawns, exactly the life a roll-cage buggy with road registration was built for. Resale holds up not because collectors are circling but because so few owners will let theirs go once they have found somewhere to jump it.
